Trent Richardson
Ht/Wt: 5-11/225 lbs
Position: RB
School: Alabama
Class: Junior

Trent Richardson's Player Profile

Trent Richardson is pretty much the complete package at running back. At 5ft 11 225lbs he comes with ideal size and build, he has a very thick lower half and chiseled upper body give him the look of a durable every down back. Rarely do you see a player with his stature also have the break away track speed to be considered a homerun threat which Richardson is as he regularly breaks off long td runs. What might be most impressive with Trent is his blend of strength and speed, he is an absolute workout warrior. Bench presses well over 400lbs and phenomenal lower body and core strength, he will be one of the strongest rbs if not players in the NFL. Richardson can wear a defense out with his strength and than hit you with a game breaking td run. Also a solid receiver out of the backfield. What will also help scouts and gms is his experience coming from the SEC and playing in an NFL system will groom him well. I just don’t have a lot of doubts that he is fit to play rb in the NFL and be a very good player.

Weaknesses would be that Alabama doesn’t emphasize a lot of pass protection from their running backs. He lacks some efficiency as a rb and I wish he ran inside a little more. I would not say that trent is a one cut north and south rb or a guy that will run through tacklers. He uses his balance and center of gravity to square up and shake off would be tacklers and get yards after contact, or he will use his vision to find an opening or go to the outside for a long run. His style may lead to an injury or ball control issues. The positive thing is his flaws are not glaring and can be corrected while his measurables and productivity are off the charts and can’t be taught.

My NFL comparison would be Cedric Benson but with more speed. If this were the 1970s, 80s or 90s Richardson would be a top 3 pick and still could be. His strength and speed blend is off the charts. He comes from a great system, and playing in a competitive conference he has not been over-used by any stretch, with his compact, durable build I think Trent projects better long term than most rb prospects you will see. I also like his mature character and commitment to the weight room and the fact that his hard work pays off when you see him play.
