Ryan Broyles' Player Profile

Ryan Broyles will leave behind a record breaking college career for a national power when he enters the NFL. His productivity and consistency over his career is off the charts. Scouts will like the fact that he is producing in a NFL type system with a future NFL QB and that he has been a winner in a tough conference. Broyles has the knack for getting open and reeling in passes no matter where they are thrown. He is very nimble which makes him a good route runner, and play maker after the catch. Ryan has showed great durability by staying in the lineup with high work loads, you can line him up in the slot or out wide. For a guy his size he has the fearlessness you need to have to be a good possession receiver and punt returner. Good character prospect and I believe he will excel at the mental side of playing wr.

The weaknesses for Broyles is he does not have elite size or speed, and even calling it average could be a stretch. Although he shows good game speed the raw speed to be a vertical threat is not there. Also he is not going to provide a big target for QBs but I think his ability to get open and go after the football will make up for it. He will have to work on getting off the line of scrimmage against physical NFL corners, I think that his nimbleness will allow him to get open but he may be forced to work out of the slot.

If it were not for Broyles’ size/speed ratio he would be a 1st rd pick hands down. Also, I am sure GMs will worry that after a hall of fame college career he may not have much left for the NFL ranks when you consider his diminutive size and insane college production. Still, Broyles has the talent to be a solid #2 possession receiver and punt return specialist. I think Deion Branch is a good NFL comparison.
