Nick Foles' Player Profile

There is a lot to like about Nick Foles as a QB prospect. At 6ft5 240lbs he has the ideal size that you look for in a QB. I love players, especially QBs who played HS ball in Texas and Foles comes from the same HS as Drew Brees and broke many of his records. Nick has the arm strength to make all of the NFL throws and he has put up good stats in college and has showed accuracy and efficient play at QB. He is a good enough athlete to move around but is definitely a pass first QB. Also a smart player coming from a passing system he should be able to catch on to the NFL playbook well.

The negatives are that Foles has not won a lot in College. His big game and cold weather experience is limited. Improvisation is not in his game. I don’t see a lot of leadership intangible with Foles and for how successful he has been individually he does not carry his team as much as you would like and probably prevents him from being a 1st round prospect.

As a NFL comparison I would go with Brad Johnson. Foles should give you steady play at the QB position. Offensive coordinators will like him because he will not do too much and will limit his mistakes. His success will be heavily dependant on the talent around him.
