Morris ClaiborneHt/Wt: 6-0/185 lbs
Morris Claiborne's Player ProfileI think the Alabama game solidified Claiborne as a top 10 pick in the draft. This is a good year for DBs and Claiborne is going to rank #1 in corners coming out. He has a striking resemblance to last yearís top corner and LSU alum Patrick Peterson and possesses a similar, dynamic skill set. LSU is really turning out impressive DB prospects and last year Morris got a lot of action by playing opposite of Peterson and went on to lead the conference in INTs and passes defended. This year he has the task of playing the opposing #1 reciever and is winning that matchup week in and week out. At about 6ft 190lb Claiborne has good, lean muscle and definition and long limps. He shows a good burst and exceptional feet and change of direction to mirror wrs running routes and also has the ball skills to make plays when QBs challenge him. His hip flexibility and makeup speed are also there to cover down the field and his ball skills will allow him to compete on jump balls in the end zone. He can also play physical, he can jam on the line or come up and play the run. Morris is a big part of LSUs success and run at the national title. Also, has a clean health and character history which bodes well.
Clairborne looks a lot like Patrick Peterson but lacks the safety size and strength and world class speed. Outside of having average size there isnít really any knocks on Morris. He has not been beat much in college so I wonder how he will respond when he does in the NFL.
Morris looks like a legit #1 cb in the NFL. I think he has the size and athleticism to compare to Carlos Rogers and coverage skills of Vontae Davis.
