Amukamara got off to a slow start at college, starting 3 of 21 games in his first 2 years. He broke out as a junior starting all 14 games. In 2009, he recorded 102 tackles, 5 interceptions, 3 sacks with 5 tackles for loss. He’s not putting up the same numbers this season as teams aren’t throwing his way as much.

Amukamara has excellent instincts and route recognition. Has good size, strength, and speed. Is a playmaker, attacks the ball. He’s physical with receivers on the line, and is a solid tackler. Some think he may not have elite speed, but is still considered one of the top cornerback in the 2011 draft class.
