Phil Taylor's Player Profile

Taylor started his college football career at Penn State as a reserve DT in 2006. He suffered a MCL sprain in 2007 and was limited to 4 starts. He recorded 20, 6.5 TFL and 1 sack that season. After the ’07 season he transferred to Baylor and had to sit out the 2008 season. In his first season at Baylor in 2009 he made 25 tackles, 2.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks. This past season he upped his production to 62 tackles, 7 TFL and 2 sacks.

Taylor moves well for someone with such a big frame. Is able to use his long arms and quick hands to take on more than one blocker. He is very strong and has a powerful initial punch. Is excellent in stuffing the run. Could be used as a NT or DT.

He’s an average to below average pass rusher. Has had weight and conditioning issues. Lateral mobility isn’t the greatest. He transferred to Baylor after being suspended from Penn State. Though they were dismissed, he was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from a 2008 fight.
