JJ Watt's Player Profile
Watt started off as a tight end at Central Michigan in 2007. He transferred to Wisconsin and had to sit out the 2008 season. He converted to a DE, started all 13 games in 2009, registering 44 tackles, 15.5 TFL and 4.5 sacks. This past year Watt continued to improve. He had 62 tackles, 21 TFL, 7 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.Watt has excellent size and quickness. He gets off the line well. Has quick hands and long arms, effective at knocking down passes. Has a good work ethic and leadership qualities. Better against the run than against the pass.
Gaining more experience at the position will only help his development as a DE. Can get over aggressive at times, taking himself out of position. Needs to get better at reading offenses. Tackling could improve.
