Michael Crabtree's Player Profile

Comparisons have been drawn between Michael Crabtree and Houston Texans Pro Bowl receiver, Andre Johnson. Crabtree has all the tools to be a star in the NFL and will be the top wide receiver taken in the 2009 NFL draft.

He has the size and playmaking ability to excel at the next level. Crabtree is an excellent athlete with size that allows him to create mismatches against defensive backs. Has ‘sure’ hands and good footwork. During his redshirted freshman season he caught 134 passes for 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns. He followed it up in 2008 with 97 receptions, 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Crabtree’s athleticism isn’t in question, but he does lack true breakaway speed. Another point that seems to get brought up frequently is if its Texas Tech offensive scheme that allows for Crabtree to put up solid numbers. Not use to running deep routes which might give him trouble against speedy back. With that being said, Crabtree will be the top receiver in the 2009 draft and will have a solid NFL career.
