Leodis McKelvin's Player Profile
Positives: Extremely explosive and athletic cornerback with quick feet and backpedal. Has an extra gear on the field. Decent size and hands to make the interception. Willingness to tackle. Dynamite return man who has the potential to develop into one of the best in the NFL. A truly gifted athlete. Loves the game.Negatives: Lacks awareness and relied more on his athletic ability in college. Must learn to recognize routes. Change of direction ability and hip fluidity only adequate. Can be beaten off double moves. Needs to improve tackling technique.
Outlook: One of the most gifted athletes in the draft, McKelvin is still much a project at the cornerback position. He has the raw tools to develop into a very good cover cornerback but he must be coached up and willing to spend countless hours in the film room. He is more likely to reach his potential as a top return man in the NFL than his potential to become an elite cornerback, though he should still be a quality NFL starter.
