Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's Player Profile
Positives: Unbelievable athleticism that clearly runs in the family as he is the cousin of All-Pro cornerback Antonio Cromartie of the San Diego Chargers. Overall skill set is similar to Antonio's... tall with a lanky frame (not as cut or as strong as Antonio), long arms and limbs, excellent man-coverage ability, fluid hips, outstanding backpedal and great change of direction ability. His ball skills are outstanding and he is a threat to take it the distance each time he gets his hands on the ball.Negatives: Needs to work on his tackling technique and give more effort in this area. Too aggressive at times and will get beaten for it, though he shows the ability to recover. Has problems tracking the ball over his head which may lead to a high number of pass interference calls. Route recognition and overall football IQ only adequate, must spend time in the film room.
Outlook: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has the greatest upside of any cornerback in this draft. Will likely need more time than Antonio to reach elite status but the potential is absolutely there.
