Chris William's Player Profile
Positives: Very good athlete. Long arms and big hands. A true left tackle. Uses athleticism to mirror pass rushers. Quick feet, gets out of stance swiftly. Bends his knees, not his waist when sliding. Does a good job with hand placement and locking on to the defender. High football IQ, a good kid, very coachable.Negatives: Finesse tackle. Lacks strength and leg drive. Will not be anything more than an adequate run blocker in the NFL. Is not as good blocking at the 2nd level as his athleticism would lead you to believe.
Outlook: The type of tackle who is best suited to negate speedy edge rushers, Williams may struggle to generate movement while drive blocking. Might be best suited for a zone blocking scheme. A similar prospect to former Texas OT Jonathan Scott, though Williams' intangibles and smarts make him a much better prospect with the potential to actually develop into starting caliber NFL left tackle.
