Xavier Gilliam's Player Profile

Xavier Gilliam is an explosive interior defensive lineman whose disruptive ability and improving pass-rushing production have established him as one of the more intriguing defensive prospects in the 2027 class. Gilliam possesses an impressive combination of first-step quickness, lower-body power, and lateral agility, allowing him to penetrate gaps and create problems for opposing offensive lines. He is particularly effective when attacking upfield, using his initial burst to gain leverage before blockers can establish their hands. His strength also allows him to collapse the pocket and disrupt quarterbacks attempting to step forward. Against the run, Gilliam flashes the ability to shed blocks and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. However, his aggressive approach can occasionally compromise gap discipline, and he must develop a more consistent repertoire of counter moves. His combination of athleticism and interior disruption gives him legitimate starting potential at the NFL level.
