CJ Carr's Player Profile

CJ Carr is a polished pocket passer who combines advanced football intelligence, accuracy, and impressive command of Notre Dame's offense. He demonstrates excellent anticipation, frequently delivering the football before receivers complete their routes. Carr processes defensive coverages quickly and consistently works through his progressions rather than relying exclusively on his primary target. His compact throwing motion and sound mechanics allow him to deliver accurate passes across the short and intermediate portions of the field. He also displays the poise to navigate pressure and maintain his throwing platform inside the pocket. Although Carr possesses sufficient arm strength for NFL competition, he lacks the elite velocity of some other quarterback prospects and can struggle when attempting difficult throws outside the numbers. He is not an exceptional rushing threat, making his pocket awareness particularly important. Carr projects as a potential NFL starter whose accuracy, decision-making, and technical development should appeal to teams operating timing-based passing offenses.
