Class: Senior

Mansoor Delane's Player Profile

Mansoor Delane is a long, athletic hybrid defender who has developed into one of the more disruptive pass?rushers in the SEC, capable of lining up as a stand?up edge or a traditional defensive end. He attacks with twitchy first?step quickness, strong hand usage, and a nonstop motor that allows him to consistently win off the line and close on the quarterback, while also showing the flexibility and range to handle some linebacker?style responsibilities in coverage and pursuit. His game reflects a blend of length, leverage, and technique that makes him difficult for tackles to neutralize one?on?one, which in turn boosts his ceiling as an every?down rusher at the NFL level.

Strengths: His biggest strengths are his explosive first?step burst and his advanced hand?fight package, both of which allow him to control tackles’ bodies and generate pressure in a variety of ways.

Weaknesses: His two biggest weaknesses are his somewhat compact frame, which can make him vulnerable to stronger interior linemen in the run, and his occasional tendency to over?pursue, leading to blown gaps and open lanes for the offense when he leaks too far upfield.

Mel Kiper - ESPN - January 21st: "He is a true technician and demonstrated excellent ball skills, with 27 pass breakups and eight interceptions over his four-year career. He excels in both man and zone coverage, and his 3.3 yards allowed per attempt on throws in his direction was fourth in the nation."

Walt - Walter Football- January 20th: "Mansoor Delane is very instinctive with nice size."

Gordon McGinness - PFF - January 19th: "He earned an 89.1 PFF coverage grade in man coverage, allowed a catch on just 37.1% of passes faced and forced 11 incompletions."

NFL Draft Buzz- January: "When the tape stops rolling on Mansoor Delane, you're left with a study in contrasts. The instincts leap off the screen - he processes route combinations with veteran savvy and rarely makes the same mistake twice. Yet that same cerebral approach occasionally becomes his undoing, as he'll overthink situations and get caught flat-footed against misdirection."
