Francis Mauigoa
Ht/Wt:6' 5"/329 lbs
Position: OT
School: Miami
Class: Junior

Francis Mauigoa's Player Profile

Mauigoa enters the draft as a highly experienced lineman with rare physical traits and a strong developmental track record. He has the frame teams want, quick feet for his size, and the ability to generate movement at the point of attack, which makes him especially appealing in power and zone concepts. The biggest debate around him is positional: some evaluators believe he can stay at tackle, while others think his best long-term fit may be inside at guard because of arm length and some technical concerns. Even with those questions, his upside is high enough that he is widely viewed as a plug-and-play NFL lineman with starter traits.

Strengths: His biggest strengths are his power in the run game and his impressive athleticism for a player of his size, both of which show up in his ability to move defenders and reach landmarks in space.

Weaknesses: His biggest weaknesses are shorter tackle-style length that can make him vulnerable on the edge and some technical lapses in pass protection, especially when he gets too lean or loses balance against counters.

Mel Kiper - ESPN - January 21st: "Here's a true mauler. Mauigoa is fun to watch for the way he just destroys pass rushers at the point of attack. He had more than 2,600 snaps at right tackle and has the pass protection skill to stick there, but he could absolutely slide inside and become a Pro Bowl-caliber guard at the next level."

Walt - Walter Football- January 20th: "Francis Mauigoa has immense upside as a potential left tackle in the NFL. His brother was just drafted in the fifth round."

Gordon McGinness - PFF - January 19th: "Mauigoa is an excellent pass blocker who earned an 85.4 PFF pass blocking grade on true pass sets this past season. He was also no slouch in the run game, earning a PFF run-blocking grade above 74.0 on both gap and zone concepts."

NFL Draft Buzz- January: "Mauigoa has legitimate franchise tackle potential with the physical tools and developmental trajectory that should have teams in the top five picks salivating."
